A recent survey from SquareTrade (an extended warranty company) reveals that 1 in 3 laptops will fail within 3 years.
Netbooks perform even worse: just over one quarter (25.1%) of Netbook computers are expected to fail within 36 months of purchase.
As for suppliers:
Apple, Sony, Toshiba and Asus are the most reliable systems with only 1.8% difference between them in failure rates.
HP was the worst performer with 25.6% of it’s laptops expected to fail within 3 years.
Interestingly the failure rate of laptops is much higher than that of most other consumer electronics.
It would appear that with portable computers (as with so much else in life) you really do get what you pay for!Tags: laptop, reliability
